THE BEGINNING, 2020

Interesting enough, I met her on the dance floor, I remember it like it was just yesterday, the classic Gregory Isaac’s song “Cool Down the Pace” was playing, it’s as if the Dj knew our eyes would meet in this exact moment, I caught you dancing in a rhythm of indescribable motions, apparently this was your song, you stood there, singing along word for word, eyes closed, and waist wining in the wind, I stood there admiring not only your style, but your beauty, your vibes seemed so calm and relaxed, so I made my way towards you, trying to be smooth. but also show you that I also had some dance moves under my sleeve, so I approached you, two stepping and smiling, you laughed at me, but grabbed my hand, welcoming me into your realm… this was just the beginning!

OVER TIME, 2020

Of course everything starts with friendship, we spent countless hours, laughing and smiling, every now and then a argument would spark, but we didn’t leave those moments with hatred or anger, we learned what perspective each person held in it’s moment, we gained understanding and growing care for the views of one another, never lacking respect or courtesy of feelings, and for that I was the utmost thankful for her, no matter how heated arguments got, she would never throw personal things in my face, because past experiences showed me that some women can be striking, but it was something about her that was just completely different from anyone I’ve ever met, she was truly a gem, and I just kept falling for her more and more OVER TIME…

AND HERE WE ARE, 2020

I’m not usually a person that speeds through a story, but in this case, I’d like fast forward a little bit if you don’t mind, because there’s something I must get off my chest…

I just want to say that the moment you walked into my life, there was this bright light above your head, and I wasn’t sure if it was just my vision becoming blurry from low blood pressure, or possibly the moon shining through the windows, but for my heart’s sake, I’m going with the idea that you had this light above you, highlighting all your features, melanin glowing and smile popping, but this isn’t necessarily about your beauty, but I want to praise your characteristics, and your sense of love, you are beyond any explanation I can truly give, we met at a time when heart break had just walked out, as you walked in, and the way you came in like a Chicago Windy Day, knocking me over but picking me up and caring for me, you rescued me, you rescued my heart, and you rescued my doubt in if love ever will exist again, I just want to say thank you for not being a wonderful soul, but an amazing partner in crime, and here we are today, tomorrow, and for eternity…
