More than Friends, 2018

We were supposed to just be friends, well that’s what the guidelines said, but as usual the way we think life goes isn’t always what occurs, yes we began as friends, then over time I saw much more destined for us, I wouldn’t get ahead of myself and say marriage, but I definitely think we shouldn’t both be stuck in the friend zone, cause I’d look at you, pass your beautiful features, deep into your flawless soul, and I could see your heart smiling every time you are in my midst, and if you look deep in my eyes, you’d see them glowing like the stars at night, there’s just something we do to one another, every time a beautiful song plays at these African functions, you’re the first person I look for to hit the dance floor with, dancing to each beat as if it was telling our story, Ghanaians would call it odo nwom, so yes I enjoy us being friends, but let’s take this leap of faith into something more, yeah that’s it more than friends 

Beyond This Realm, 2018

If ever flawless beauty was a crime, they’d have to jail you with a lifetime sentence, with no chance parole, cause lord knows you’re beyond this earth, your melanin glow is greater than any light source known to this humankind, you’ve got to be from another planet, cause I’ve never seen something so precious ever walking this universe, though I’ve only been on this earth for 28 years, nothing so elegant and filled with grace has ever entered my life, so excuse me if I act like a child and his favorite toy, I just can’t share you with anyone, guess it’s safe to say I’m a bit selfish, but can you really blame me?, I stand in awe every time I see your smile, and your laugh reminds me of Charlie Parker playing his saxophone, and when you walk into a room, I can hear Miles Davis playing that trumpet, you remind me of all the beautiful and sweet sounds of Jazz, some of the greatest sounds of this realm, wow just wow

You came into my life during a time I wasn’t prepared for anyone, I was still in the ending stages of being some kind of player, entertaining girls I had no interest in, but the game had me closed in, or maybe I was just enjoying it way too much to admit, but see I started realizing they didn’t really mean anything to me, it was fun while it lasted, but truthfully there was no longevity in existence, but I also didn’t want hurt anyone ‘s feelings, though I also didn’t want to be stuck in a place I didn’t want to be, so little by little I started cutting them off, not replying texts, and dodging phone calls, all in hope that they’d get the picture, cause lord knows I grew fond of someone, and that someone is you!
